Position: Field Services Specialist I-III
Location: Sumterville

Overview

This position is responsible for performing on-site and phone-assisted residential and small commercial energy assessments; resolution of high usage inquiries; residential meter testing; solar assessments; solar inspections; performing meter exchanges; counseling members regarding energy usage and operational improvements; and performing other duties as assigned by the department manager or designee.

Education
  • Field Services Specialist I
    Minimum:
    High School or GED
    Preferred: 2-year associate degree majoring in Electrical Engineering, Construction, Conservation field or related discipline.
  • Field Services Specialist II & III
    Minimum:
    Two (2) year associate degree in electrical engineering, construction, conservation field or related discipline.
Certifications

Once Certifications are obtained, must maintain and renew annually.

Experience
  • Field Services Specialist I
    Minimum:
    Two (2) years of experience in the electric utility industry or a related field, preferably in energy conservation.
  • Field Services Specialist II
    Minimum:
    Three (3) years of direct experience as a residential (or commercial) energy auditor. Preferred:
    Two (2) years of experience in electric utility field work (working on energized services).
  • Field Services Specialist III
    Minimum:
    Five (5) years of direct experience as a residential (or commercial) energy auditor. Minimum:
    Two (2) years of experience in electric utility field work (working on energized services). Preferred:
    Five (5) years of experience in electric utility field work (working on energized services).
Other Requirements
  • Ability to operate office equipment including a personal computer, printers, copy machines, telephone, and fax machine.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and report to work on short notice during emergencies.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with acceptable driving record as determined by SECO Energy.
  • Extensive driving and field work to include basements, crawl spaces, attics, exposure to adverse weather, and travel to all service areas; setup and breakdown for programs and presentations.
  • Frequent after-hours and weekend travel to provide presentations and promote SECO Energy products and services.
  • Frequent business travel to all areas of service territory.
  • Normal work hours: eight (8) hours between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.

Personal Protective Equipment: Required

Driving Requirements: Valid Florida Driver's License.

  • Surge Protection, Gener Link, & Rebate Program Administration: Knowledge of surge protection and Gener Link equipment; ability to install/remove equipment; awareness of rebate programs; supports program administration and member participation.
  • Metering & Electrical Diagnostics: Performs meter exchanges and testing; understanding of electrical theory, metering, voltage, amperage, and power quality; conducts high-usage investigations on-site or by phone.
  • Energy Assessments, Systems Knowledge & Efficiency Investigations: Performs residential and commercial energy assessments; understands energy usage patterns, appliances, HVAC, thermography, lighting, and related systems to diagnose member concerns.
  • Electrical Codes, Safety Standards & Energized Work: Applies Florida energy codes, NEC, and local codes; understands safety standards for live voltages and energized work.
