Overview
Field Services Specialist I-III at SECO Energy performs energy assessments for residential and small commercial customers, conducts meter testing and high-usage inquiries, and supports solar interconnection and energy conservation programs. The role includes on-site and phone-based assessments, member counseling on energy usage, and coordination with the department to improve energy efficiency and service delivery.
Responsibilities- Perform on-site and phone-assisted residential and small commercial energy assessments; analyze results and prepare related reports and correspondence.
- Conduct meter testing, metering exchanges, high-usage investigations, and diagnostic activities; document findings and coordinate service orders as needed.
- Provide counseling to members regarding energy usage, operational improvements, and potential energy conservation measures.
- Assist with solar assessments and solar interconnection readiness; participate in related inspections and program administration.
- Support energy programs, rebates, surge protection equipment administration, and related customer outreach.
- Communicate technical information clearly to diverse audiences and promote cooperative programs and energy conservation initiatives.
- Maintain thorough documentation and records; plan and organize work to meet deadlines; use applicable Microsoft Office and corporate information systems.
Education
- Minimum:
High School or GED - Preferred: 2-year associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction, Conservation, or related field
Certifications
- Must maintain and renew certifications as obtained; preferred certifications for field Specialist I-III where applicable (Residential/Commercial Energy Assessments, FSEC Residential Energy Auditor, BPI Building Analyst, etc.).
Experience
- Field Services Specialist I:
Minimum 2 years in electric utility or related energy conservation field. - Field Services Specialist II:
Minimum 3 years as a residential/commercial energy auditor; experience in electric utility field work preferred. - Field Services Specialist III:
Minimum 5 years as a residential/commercial energy auditor; experience with energized services preferred.
Other Requirements
- Proficiency with office equipment; ability to work irregular hours and travel as needed; valid Florida driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Extensive driving and field work in various environments; capability to perform field inspections in attics, basements, crawl spaces; ability to lift up to 10 pounds routinely; travel to all service territory locations.
- Normal work hours typically 7:30 am–5:00 pm, Monday–Friday; willingness to travel for programs and community engagements.
Field Services Specialist I
- Energy Assessments & Conservation Analysis: collect and analyze data for energy assessments; prepare reports; perform thermal imaging studies; assist with energy usage calculations and recommendations.
- Member Interaction: respond to inquiries via phone, internet, or in person; educate members on meter testing results and energy-saving opportunities.
- Field Services & Program Support: perform high-usage investigations; administer single-phase meter testing; conduct solar assessments; present to external groups to promote SECO programs.
Field Services Specialist II
- Energy Assessments & Conservation Analysis;
Energy calculations and financial impact analysis; renewable energy and solar services; documentation and reporting; confidentiality and professional conduct. - Member Support & Education;
Field Equipment Testing & Installation;
General and Renewable energy program support.
Field Services Specialist III
- Advanced energy assessments; meter testing; high-usage investigations; solar and renewable energy services; public engagement and education; documentation and technical systems proficiency.

Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentOffice and field work with exposure to weather, uneven terrain, and required field inspections in attics, basements, crawl spaces. Regularly lifts and moves up to 10 pounds; continuous use of motor vehicle; variable noise levels depending on location.
