Forgen is a leading geotechnical and specialty civil construction company operating across North America, committed to delivering innovative solutions for complex civil, geotechnical, and environmental challenges, guided by our core values of integrity, passion, teamwork, and smart work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft plans and detailed drawings for specialty projects, such as civil construction, environmental remediation, demolition, and geotechnical construction.
  • Interpret engineering PDF plan sets, rough sketches or notes to produce drawings using CAD systems (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Agtek).
  • Incorporate data from topographical surveys and geophysical reports to prepare drawings.
  • Calculate weights, “cut and fill” volumes, and stress factors and their implications for technical aspects of designs; make calculations for excavation tonnage and earth‑moving operations.
  • Use mathematics to solve problems, integrating arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics.
  • Prepare drawing “take‑offs” calculating construction volume quantities from existing design drawings.
  • Create technical cross‑sections, plans and profiles, topographical 3D contour surfaces, grading, excavation, demolition, site plans, maps, and diagrams using engineering plans, surveys, and field data.
  • Produce slurry walls, cut‑off wall profiles, elevations, and submittal drawings.
  • Draw proposed truck haul‑route plans, staging areas, and traffic control plan drawings.
  • Create Excel spreadsheets for volume calculations, stations, northing & eastings, elevations, point descriptions, and manipulate CSV files for transfer to field personnel or third‑party engineering.
  • Create CAD template styles, title blocks, and implement CAD standard procedures.
  • Write reports and written procedures using Microsoft Word.
  • Prepare as‑built documentation for submittals; calculate final as‑built quantities for payment submittals.
  • Estimate quantities from design drawings for bidding projects and prepare proposal drawings with technical documentation.
  • Assist project managers with field design changes, engineering change orders, and provide adjustments as needed.
  • Explain drawings to production or construction teams and interact with engineering personnel.
  • Create work project binders; produce CDs for all projects; file documentation; plot/print drawing sets.
  • Organize electronic file directory structure, clean‑up, catalog projects, and archive directories.
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency and data collection and analysis.
  • Apply expertise in the land survey industry and problem‑solving while managing priorities effectively.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in CAD Technology, drafting, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience as a CAD technician in the engineering or construction industry.
  • Experience with CAD drawing systems such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive on behalf of company business.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center.
  • Will receive additional training as necessary.
