Storm Duty Requirements
Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company s rules and procedures.
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

The Cable System Specialist supports Tampa Electric Company’s (TEC) network and downtown underground commercial distribution (DUCD) systems, Tampa International Airport (TIA) and Tampa General Hospital (TGH) construction, maintenance and long-term planning projects. Cable System Specialists will create system maintenance work requests in the work management system (WMS), determine customer/system requirements, assist DDTS with designs, estimates, and switching instructions. Help coordinate activities between all departments involved, customers, and contractors.
Under direct supervision works on routine assignments such as standard downtown underground distribution with projects pertaining to the general downtown Network customers that consist of minimal complexity, following established policies, methods and standard working procedures.
Advancement to a higher level is based on value added to the company through increased duties, responsibilities, and accomplishments. Advancement is not automatic, i.e., based solely on time in the job, but will be based on the employee’s performance, qualifications, and the technical needs of the Department.
