Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY/DETAILS

This position will support Polk Power Station’s Engineering and Technical Team.

Accountabilities

Assist the station with reliability of distributed control systems (DCS), PLCs, and other instrument & controls systems. Provide assistance with unit operations and troubleshooting. Provide adjustments to control logic and graphics.

Physical Location of Co-op:
Polk Power Station 9995 FL-37S, Mulberry, FL 33860

Working Conditions: Power Station but mostly in an office environment. Occasional field walking and may be exposed to heights, dusty, hot, and noisy environments.

Preferred Availability:Part time (20-30 hours)

QUALIFICATIONS Education

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:

  • To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Required Degree: Engineering

Preferred/Related Discipline: Mechanical, Electrical, Computer

Year in School: Junior or Senior
