Position Overview and Responsibilities

This position performs technical work in the Wastewater Management Program under the direction of the Permitting & Field Services Environmental Manager. This position will:

  • Assist with technical reviews of wastewater management projects and make recommendations for approval or disapproval.
  • With supervision, provide regulatory assistance, such as conducting permitting determinations and exemptions.
  • Ensure that the data entry corresponding to all assigned projects is entered into the department's databases and Oculus timely and appropriately, consistent with standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure reports are processed in accordance with established program rules, requirements, and policies.
  • Assist in training activities related to the wastewater management program, including drafting presentations and developing training modules.
  • Provide assistance with the Water Tracker call center during emergency events.
  • Travel is required in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to understand concepts, terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of engineering. Knowledge of data collection and analysis principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of software packages for the generation of documents, spreadsheets, and information management.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable state and federal rules, regulations, legislation, policies, and procedures relating to wastewater management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and complete work assignments.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze, and interpret scientific or technical data.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to use computer systems for data entry and retrieval.
  • Ability to prepare technical and programmatic reports.
  • Ability to travel outside Tallahassee to perform the duties of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of verifiable related experience. Post‑secondary degrees may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year‑for‑year basis. A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees.
  • Travel is required.
  • Valid Driver License.
Position of Special Trust Requirement

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

Pay

$40,800.00
