Senior Traffic Engineer

Stanley Consultants is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer for our Traffic Engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) practices in the Debary/Orlando area. The successful candidate will develop technical solutions, foster close client and staff relationships, provide creative approaches to project development, and maintain a personal dedication to serving client needs while mentoring younger engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as Project Lead or Task Lead on design plans for traffic signals, roadway lighting, signing, pavement marking, ITS infrastructure, construction sequencing, and traffic control plans.
  • Assist with major project pursuits, new business development, and local client relationships as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key traffic engineering & ITS clients.
  • Provide technical assistance and quality control oversight on traffic engineering studies and design projects managed by other project managers and task leads.
  • Provide traffic engineering support to the local and national ITS practice area.
  • Serve as the local office expert in their specific area(s) of expertise.
  • Represent Stanley Consultants in technical meetings with agency representatives, clients, and contractors.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field;
    Master of Science in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • 7 to 15 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required in the state of Florida.
  • Membership in ITE or other professional organizations aligned with traffic engineering.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) or RSP (Registered Safety Professional) certification.
  • Proficiency with SYNCHRO, HCS, RODEL, and other traffic capacity and analysis software.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation, VISSIM, AGi
    32, or other advanced software packages.
  • Direct experience with DOT, local county, municipal, and/or developer-driven traffic engineering projects and project development.
  • Experience presenting at local or regional professional organization conferences.
  • Experience in Traffic Signal / ITS / Lighting Design and Operation.
  • Traffic Impact Studies.
  • Design Concept Reports, Corridor Studies, and Preliminary Traffic Reports.
  • Safety Studies and Intersection Improvement Studies.
  • Preparation of Traffic & Safety Engineering Plans, Specifications, and Estimates.
