Responsibilities
- Lead the installation and maintenance of avionics equipment.
- Diagnose and repair complex avionics issues.
- Conduct comprehensive testing of avionics systems.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately.
- Ensure compliance with FCC, FAA, and company standards.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians.
- Maintain an organized and efficient work area.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
- Hand and finger dexterity to work with small mechanical components and tools.
- Ability to work in a noisy environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
- Ability to travel frequently to customer locations, sometimes on short notice.
- Ability to work in a combination of office and field environments.
- Ability to read detailed technical manuals, schematics, and computer screens.
- Ability to inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems accurately.
- Ability to hear and understand spoken communication in noisy environments, such as industrial sites or construction areas.
- Ability to detect auditory signals from machinery or equipment, which may indicate issues.
- Ability to navigate various work environments, including climbing ladders, crawling in confined spaces, and working at heights.
- Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for frequent travel to customer locations.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, including repairs, installations, and maintenance.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
- Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines in potentially hazardous environments.
- Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of relevant experience. Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- Advanced knowledge of avionics systems and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to understand and interpret basic applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications; ability to route wires per technical drawings.
- Advanced skills with avionics installation tooling, wiring, wiring repair, wiring installation, soldering, and crimping techniques.
- Ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations.
- Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
- Successfully pass a pre‑deployment medical assessment.
- Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays, and shift schedules as required.
- Current / valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.
- Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 60/60 rotation.
- Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
- Associate’s degree in Avionics, Electronics, or a related field.
- Expert soldering skills and use of advanced diagnostic tools.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with FCC and GROL (General Radio Operator License).
- Basic understanding of spectrometer, oscilloscope, and/or pitot‑static equipment.
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, U.S. Department of Defense, or U.S. Military.
