The Senior Construction BESS Superintendent is responsible for leading field construction execution for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role provides leadership for EPC contractor execution, QA/QC compliance, safety performance, schedule adherence, and overall construction coordination from notice to proceed through commissioning and turnover. Reporting to an onsite Construction Manager, the Superintendent acts as the owner’s primary field representative, ensuring all work complies with project specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead field construction execution for utility-scale BESS projects, with oversight of civil, mechanical, electrical, and substation activities.
- Provide leadership for EPC contractor execution, QA/QC compliance, safety performance, and schedule adherence.
- Act as the owner’s primary field representative for construction coordination from notice to proceed through commissioning and turnover.
- Ensure all construction work is completed safely, on schedule, within quality standards, and in compliance with project specifications.
- Develop and refine project routing criteria, ensuring compliance with cost, engineering, and environmental considerations.
- Support value engineering and permitting activities to optimize project outcomes.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts across Engineering, Environmental Services, Legal, and Land departments.
- Travel within the US is expected, approximately 25%.
Education: Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 11 - 15 years of experience managing technical aspects of routing, siting, and construction projects, including large-scale energy infrastructure such as substations, medium- and high-voltage systems, and utility interconnections.
Skills: A functional understanding of key criteria for route development and refinement is required. The role demands strong communication skills for coordinating with various subject matter experts and problem-solving within regulated permitting requirements.
Compensation & BenefitsThe pay rate for this position is between $35.00 and $40.76 per hour. Per Diem and Mob/De-Mob expenses are available for this assignment.
