Postdoctoral Fellowships in Magnetic Separation and Low Reynolds Number Fluid Dynamics at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) are available for individuals with expertise in computational and experimental fluid dynamics, unit operations, magnet design, modeling, fabrication, and systems control.
Responsibilities- Conduct multi-scale computational modeling of fluid dynamics in high magnetic field gradients.
- Design, fabricate, and test experimental flow-through systems for magnetic separation.
- Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects bridging engineering and soft matter science.
- Participate in the training of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Engage in professional development opportunities through NHMFL and Florida State University.
- PhD in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with computational fluid dynamics, magnet design, experimental micro/macro fluidics, colloidal science, and separation processes.
- Track record of quality publications and excellent writing skills.
- Experience in instrument design and automation.
- Interdisciplinary knowledge bridging engineering to soft matter science.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
Evaluation of applications will begin immediately, with a start date as early as May 2025. Positions are for an initial period of one year, with possible extensions to a second and third year.
