Job Description
CDM Smith’s Florida CEI team is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent/ Senior Project Manager (SPE / Sr. PM) for Roadway and Bridge Transportation Engineering. The role leads and supervises construction inspection activities on roadway, bridge, drainage, public utility installations, erosion control, and traffic control projects for FDOT and other local municipalities.
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise construction inspection activities on transportation infrastructure projects.
- Maintain relationships with clients and contractors to ensure projects are on schedule and meet contract requirements.
- Estimate manpower needs, schedule, and assign work to meet completion deadlines set by the client.
- Identify, recruit, and mentor discipline‑specific talent.
- Supervise the work of field inspection staff.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large and important construction projects or those of major scope and complexity.
- Participate in new business development, CEI practice growth, and maintain existing client relationships.
- Participate in client RFQ/RFP pursuits and submittals in collaboration with marketing staff and sales personnel to deliver winning proposals.
- Function as a mentor for junior level employees.
- Assist in developing and implementing new strategies to enhance CEI practice capabilities.
- Recommend program changes or implement innovative programs warranted by new developments.
- Attend and participate in client‑related or sponsored events and conferences such as FTBA, FL‑ACEC, and Team Florida.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Fifteen (15) years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Driving RequirementsAn appropriate and valid driver’s license is required.
Skills & Abilities- Expert knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
- Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).
20% – 40% travel.
