Sirius Staffing is seeking an experienced Supervisor Generation – Engineer to support construction and engineering activities at a combined cycle power generation facility. This role is responsible for overseeing electrical and controls construction projects, managing contractors, coordinating commissioning and startup activities, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in heavy industrial construction or power generation, with a strong background in electrical and controls systems, contractor oversight, outage coordination, and project execution.
Responsibilities- Supervise electrical and controls construction activities in an operating power generation facility.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture with a Zero Accident philosophy.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with project specifications, schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Review engineering designs and identify field changes or constructability issues.
- Coordinate and review contract change notices and field modifications.
- Assist in developing field installation work packages and subcontractor scopes of work.
- Support Engineering and Project Management with bidding, evaluating, and awarding electrical and controls contracts.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor project schedules, contractor productivity, and critical path activities.
- Conduct routine progress meetings and provide project status updates.
- Develop and coordinate commissioning and startup plans with plant operations personnel.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections to minimize rework and support outage and project schedules.
- Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), environmental requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Support outage planning, contractor coordination, cost control, and overall project execution.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Construction management training or equivalent experience.
- 10–15 years of experience in heavy industrial construction or construction management.
- Minimum 10 years of experience leading or supporting electrical and controls commissioning and startup activities in a combined cycle power plant or similar power generation environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, commissioning, and startup processes.
- Experience supervising contractors on capital projects and plant outages.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Experience preparing scopes of work, reviewing contractor proposals, managing change orders, and supporting contract administration.
- Strong planning, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and quality assurance experience.
- Experience using computerized work management systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and team-building skills.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- Experience supporting major capital improvement projects within power generation facilities.
- Onsite position based in Apollo Beach, FL.
- Work is performed in an operating combined cycle power generation facility.
- Frequent field work requiring walking, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, and wearing required PPE.
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, and rain.
- Occasional overtime, nights, weekends, and on-call support during planned and forced outages.
- Up to 5% travel between generating stations and vendor facilities, including factory acceptance testing (FAT) and equipment inspections.
