Overview
Pharmaworks manufactures innovative blister packaging systems for the pharmaceutical, consumer goods, and contract packaging industries. Pharmaworks is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer II to design packaging equipment, mechanical components, electro‑mechanical and pneumatic systems.
Responsibilities- Contributes to the mechanical design/development of new products.
- Creates and dimensions engineering/fabrication drawings using GD&T.
- Creates drawings for installation, training, and operator manuals as needed.
- Creates product final assembly drawings.
- Works with a minimum of supervision and manages complex level design tasks.
- Researches and evaluates mechanical equipment, processes and systems applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Reviews technical proposals and quotations.
- Provides technical assistance and support to manufacturing, sales, and service as directed.
- Interacts with other technical specialists and engineers to assure that the equipment meets the customer’s needs and federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines.
- Specifies components and directly modifies designs to ensure conformance with standards and performance specifications.
- Maintains drawing database to ensure current drawings/documentation is available for the Production department.
- Creates Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Will process Engineering Change Orders.
- Reads and interprets technical drawings and schematics.
- Provides Engineering support for the Purchasing/Production department, may coordinate fabrication of prototypes with outside vendors.
- Designs, conducts, and documents experiments for Research and Development.
- Conducts root cause analysis.
- Recommends and implements changes as directed.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in machine design.
- Experience designing for manufacturability.
- Packaging experience preferred.
- Must be fluent in use of Solid Works and AutoCAD (2D).
- Solid Works certification (CSWE/CSWP) is preferred.
- Sheet metal experience and certification is desired.
- General knowledge of product handling, machine capabilities and assembly principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to travel 10% of the time.
