Engineering Specialist III

Engineering Specialist III supports the technical operation and enhancement of the Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) and Florida Interoperability Network (FIN) within the Division of Telecommunications at the Department of Management Services. The role involves performing system audits, field engineering troubleshooting, equipment evaluation, and coordination with state agencies and partners to maintain and upgrade critical public safety communications infrastructure. This on-site position in Miami, FL requires expertise in land mobile radio systems, technical analysis, and emergency response coordination.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or four years of professional experience in public safety radio systems
• Knowledge of land mobile radio (LMR) principles, techniques, and equipment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use spectrum analyzers and telecommunications test equipment
• Complex problem-solving and critical thinking skills for radio system performance and licensing issues
• Ability to be on-call and respond to emergency events
• Valid Florida driver's license and ability to pass background check for criminal record eligibility
