Senior Associate (0-5 Years) – Mergers & Acquisitions

We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Mergers and Acquisitions team specialising in superannuation, life insurance and funds management.

Our team is renowned for its breadth and depth of experience in the superannuation space. This role will report to Nathan Hodge and Sarah Yu, specialists in superannuation, life insurance and funds management for major banks and wealth‑management institutions, retail, industry, corporate funds, public sector schemes, investment managers and administrators across all areas of financial services law. The team is established, collegiate and high‑performing, having worked on some of Australia and Asia’s most complex transactions and acting for the region’s largest and most significant public companies, major financial institutions and global investment banks.

• Transactions – assist major banks and wealth‑management institutions with mergers and acquisitions.
• Investments – advise on investment management arrangements for listed and unlisted assets, investment structures, private equity and infrastructure investments and transition‑management arrangements.
• Governance – handle all aspects of governance including board policies, delegations, director liability and director duties.
• Outsourcing – advise on custody, administration and investment‑management agreements.
• Product lifecycle – advise on complex life insurance products and on establishing, changing and terminating superannuation funds and products.
• Financial advice – manage various financial‑advice models including robo‑advice.
• Successor fund transfers – manage inbound and outbound successor fund transfers.
• Regulatory and disclosure – review regulated documents, RSE and AFSL licensing, MySuper authorisations and APRA approvals and relief.
• Disputes – handle disputes ranging from individual complaints to litigation.
• Employers – address employers’ superannuation guarantee liabilities.

• Recognised experience in a similar environment.
• Excellent analytical, communication and research skills – able to deliver prompt and commercially astute advice.
• Strong commitment to client service and well‑developed relationship‑management ability.
• Team focus – facilitate effective teamwork by developing strong internal relationships and enthusiasm for business‑development activities.
• First‑rate experience drafting documents, including deeds, agreements and memoranda of advice.
• Must be able to hold required visas and approvals to work in Australia if not a citizen or permanent resident.
