Position SummaryThis Budget Analyst B - SES position is in the Office of the Attorney General within the Administrative Services in Tallahassee, Florida.
Qualifications- Minimum of five (5) years’ of professional experience in budget development, preparation, and analysis, experience with State of Florida financial processes, the Legislative Budget Request (L ) process, and evaluating and analyzing data.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a business-related field and one (1) year of experience as described above.
Preference may be given to applicants with Experience in FLAIR (PALM) and/or LAS/PBS
Preference may be given to applicants with Experience with Legislative Budget Requests
Preference may be given to applicants with Experience working with Excel and Word
The Work You Will Do- Position coordinates with program areas for issues to submit to the Attorney General for inclusion in the department’s Legislative Budget Request and Long-Range Program Plan. Assist with developing issues into format for review.
- Assist with the preparation of the department’s Legislative Budget Request and Long-Range Program Plan (LRPP).
- Ensures agency budget issues are consistent with issues from the LRPP which shows the priority directions an agency will take over a five-year period to address its statutory obligations.
- Assist with the development of the agency’s Capital Improvement Plan which shows the agency’s capital facility needs and is based on the agency’s LRPP.
- Review and process purchase requisitions for budget approval, including appropriate accounting and budget codes.
- Prepares monthly budget projections.
- Assist with preparation of Schedule I’s, providing estimated revenue information for Columns A02 and A03.
- Assist in developing agency budget amendments; tracking progress after submission to OPB.
- Assist in setting annual budget allocations and perform monthly budget analysis to determine rate of spend, monitor, and review all general revenue and trust funds expenditures to ensure adequate budget authority exists to meet the agency’s needs for the remainder of the fiscal year.
- Assist in preparing fiscal impact statements on proposed legislation.
- Assist in monitoring session for fiscal impacts to the agency.
- Participates in special projects impacting the agency’s budget and/or rate.
- Include supervisor names and phone numbers for all periods of employment.
- Account for and explain any gaps in employment so that the hiring process is not delayed.
- Experience, education, training, knowledge, skills and/or abilities as well as responses to pre-qualifying questions must be verifiable to meet the minimum qualifications.
