The Office of External Affairs serves as the Commission’s front line for external engagement, building strategic relationships with stakeholders across government and industry. With a combined focus on legislative affairs and communications, the Office maintains a strong presence throughout the legislative process to support lawmakers in shaping Florida’s energy and utility regulatory policy, while also leading the agency’s messaging and outreach efforts.

Job Duties
- Respond to media requests;
- Schedule and attend FPSC Customer Service Hearings and Customer Meetings, coordinating meeting dates, site locations, audio and web stream access, security, translators, and parking;
- Complete FPSC reports, including Annual Report, Comparative Rate Statistics, and Facts and Figures on an annual basis;
- Complete and distribute FPSC news clips on a daily basis;
- Oversee production, organization and distribution of FPSC brochures and publications, including printing brochures, fulfilling brochure request orders and mailing orders to recipients;
- Prepare and distribute Rate Case Overviews and Government Bulletins for customer service hearings and customer meetings.
Four years of relevant work experience in event planning, media relations, and public speaking is required. An associate degree and two years of relevant work experience OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may be used as an alternative for the years of required experience.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Canva.

Pursuant to Section 112.313, F.S., FPSC Senior Management Service or Selected Exempt Service employees shall not personally represent another person or entity for compensation before the Commission for a period of two years following vacation of their position.
Exceptions to this law are provided for former Commission employees who are employed by another agency of State government and those employed by the Commission prior to January 1, 1995.
