Position Overview And Responsibilities

The Bureau of Design and Construction (BDC) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Design Section to provide support to our dynamic design team. This position will schedule up to 40 hours per week.

ul
  • Assisting with the planning and design of park infrastructure, including roadways, facilities, drainage structures, etc.
  • Assisting with cost estimating; tracking, reporting and communication of project status and other details.
  • Assisting with onsite project inspections.
  • Preparing and reviewing change orders and other contractual documents for compliance and accuracy.
  • Assisting with the review and processing of invoices in accordance with Finance and Accounting procedures.
  • Maintaining project files in a neatly organized condition.
  • Assisting with design tracking, reporting and other communication requirements.
  • Participating in special projects and tasks.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Knowledge In
    • Basic building construction.
    • Contract management and administration.
    • General administrative concepts.
    Skill In
    • Microsoft Office suite.
    • Effective communication techniques.
    • Problem solving.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
    • Understanding and applying applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
    Ability To
    • Manage time effectively.
    • Review, analyze and evaluate data.
    • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Maintain organized files.
    • Work well independently and as a team.
    • Apply problem solving techniques.
    • Maintain a valid driver license.
    • Travel occasionally.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Valid driver license.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Knowledge of:
      Architecture/engineering design, construction, production and/or operations.
    • The principles of land use, site planning and design.
    • 3+ years’ experience in professional design project management, engineering, construction, or related field.
    Pay

    $17.00 - $20.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
