Deputy Building Official​/Director

The Deputy Building Director is responsible for examining plans and specifications for new construction and remodeling of existing facilities. Provides assistance to the public on interpretation and application of specific building, floodplain, electrical, and mechanical codes and regulations.

• Associate’s degree in Arts or Science from an accredited college.
• Ten (10) years of related experience in construction related field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible building department experience, including supervision of staff for a municipality or similar public sector organization.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

• Must possess and maintain at all times a valid Florida Driver’s License, “Class E”, with a driving record that meets or exceeds minimum city standards, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire or promotion.
• Florida DBPR Certified Building Code Administrator (Building Official).
• Florida DBPR Certified Building Inspector/Plans Examiner and/or other Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Inspector/Plans Examiner certifications.
• Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) Certified Floodplain.
