This is an internal promotional opportunity. Eligibility is limited to current FDC employees.
Responsibilities- Supervise, surveil, and maintain a specialized caseload that may include youthful offenders, drug offender probation, community controlees, pre-trial intervention offenders, offender releases, or any combination thereof.
- As workload demands allow, supervise other offender classifications and perform duties related to intake, court liaison, training, and electronic monitoring device installation.
- Direct and supervise a correctional probation officer at a probation and restitution center and monitor a residential treatment facility as the on-site departmental representative.
- Encourage offender compliance with supervision orders through guidance, goal setting, monitoring, and community supervision.
- Conduct field and office supervision visits via personal contact, collateral/community contacts, surveillance, telephone, and electronic methods to ensure compliance with conditions of supervision and provide assistance as appropriate.
- Assess offender needs, treatment options, and supervision objectives; establish and record structured treatment programs and other plans to enhance offender improvement (education, counseling, social services, health education, vocational training, substance abuse, etc.).
- Develop offender payment plans, maintain case records (electronic and hard copy), and document status of background, legal history, treatment, and progress; take and use digitized photographs for records or website placement as needed.
- Prepare investigations and provide recommendations on supervision, reentry, diversion, or incarceration to sentencing or releasing authorities.
- Maintain liaison with judiciary, prosecutors, public defenders, law enforcement, treatment providers, nonprofit organizations, and other department units; develop partnerships with local law enforcement to enhance public safety.
- Conduct individual and group counseling as needed and interview offenders to obtain information related to supervision or investigation.
- Monitor and test offenders for controlled substances and alcohol as directed or as necessary for community protection.
- Install and maintain electronic/radio equipment and GPS systems to monitor offenders; interpret data to document compliance with supervision conditions.
- Perform administrative duties, assist supervisors, serve on teams or committees, and participate in training related to job duties and career development; may act as day-to-day training officer as assigned.
- Essential/Entry Level KSA’s: Ability to work independently and/or under stressful conditions; ability to communicate effectively.
- Full Performance Level KSA’s: Knowledge of techniques for advising, interviewing, and counseling; ability to review and analyze data; ability to assist offenders in solving problems; ability to conduct investigations; ability to apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Licensure, Certification, Or Registration: Certified in accordance with Florida Statutes 943.13;
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; valid driver’s license as a condition of employment per state regulations.
