The Florida Commission on Human Relations is the state agency that enforces civil rights laws and serves as a resource on human relations in Florida.
Location:
4075 Esplanade Way, Room 110, Tallahassee, FL 32399. This position is not remote.
Salary: $34,760.00 per year.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the Fair Housing Intake Unit by handling housing discrimination complaints, interacting with the public, managing case files, and assisting investigators.
- Receives and inputs all incoming complaints received by the Commission; notifies parties of case filings and receipt.
- Answers incoming calls for the Fair Housing Unit.
- Processes outgoing mail for the Fair Housing Unit.
- Serves as a backup to the Regulatory Specialist by conducting necessary research when needed.
- Generates and mails case notification documents to parties and transfers cases to the appropriate Regulatory Specialist assigned and to the investigator.
- Provides information to the public about alleged discrimination in the area of Housing.
- Advises complainants and their representatives about the law and the Agency’s jurisdiction, procedures, and rules; provides case status updates for incoming callers.
- Uploads information into multiple case management systems.
- Performs document management.
- Knowledge of office procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.

- A high school diploma or its equivalent, or
- One (1) year of experience performing clerical, administrative, or office support work.
- Experience entering, tracking, or maintaining records in electronic case management systems or databases.
- Experience providing information to the public regarding policies, procedures, or services.
- Familiarity with document management practices, including scanning, uploading, and maintaining electronic files.
