Position: JOINT EXERCISE PLANNING SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Location: Hurlburt Field

Duties

Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is:
Lead joint fires exercise planner to plan, design, develop, execute, and assess AF-wide operational level-of-warfare command and control exercises and experiments supporting Component Major Command (C-MAJCOM) and Component Numbered Air Force (C-NAF) level programs to provide a realistic environment to train Joint Force Air Component Commanders (JFACC), Commander Air Force Forces (COMAFFOR), and Air Component staffs, other service commanders and staffs, joint, and coalition organizations.

Duties:
* Plans, organizes, and manages a wide range of complex activities involved in the AF-wide C-MAJCOM/C-NAF Air Component Exercise Program and other service's (Army, Navy, Marine Corps) Component exercise programs.
* Leads response cell during execution events to control the exercise injects and storylines to meet training requirements.
* Records training audience progress and performance to meet DoD, Joint Staff, Combatant Command, Air Force, C-MAJCOM, and service component training requirements.
* Monitors, evaluates, and actively participates in strategic planning to improve organizational direction and focus using strategic planning tools and techniques.
* Represents 505 CTS with a variety of command and functional area organizations. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* The employee must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
* A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
* This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
* The employee is required to travel by commercial or military aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments. The employee must be able to obtain and retain a US Government official passport.
* The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Overtime and/or emergency overtime may be required. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series 0301.

SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of joint exercise planning, designing, developing, executing to assess joint operational level-of-warfare command and control readiness; development and/or improvement of constructive exercises and programs in support of personnel readiness to conduct major operations such as war, mobilization, deployment, exercise, command and control training systems, special operations, rescue, or similar operations;

knowledge of various agency (DoD, AF, Army, MAJCOM...) regulations, instructions and policies related to various elements for joint operation execution; and in-depth knowledge of the various agency command entities involved in overall planning and execution of operations and evaluations and the ability to convey advanced concepts and implement technical procedures in support of operational-level command and control exercises. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
