JOB

DUTIES

This is a full-time OPS Park Ranger position on the Little Big Econ State Forest in Geneva, FL, managing invasive plant species that alter natural communities by displacing native species and expanding through natural processes. This OPS position’s primary duties will be spent in the field searching and treating for invasive plant species, logging areas on a GPS/Flint unit, and maintaining these areas through planning with data management.

This OPS Park Ranger position also provides assistance with state forest projects such as collecting data for threatened and endangered plant and animal species, restoration projects, and the prescribed burning program.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Performs invasive species eradication and control utilizing specialized equipment, herbicides, and land management techniques.
  • Assists on prescribed fire on state forest lands as needed.
  • Assists in monitoring and data collection of threatened and endangered species on state forest lands.
  • Assists in restoration projects of uplands natural communities on state forest lands.
  • Assists in maintenance of recreational facilities on state forest lands.
  • Coordinates the maintenance and operation of farm machinery, trucks, mixing and spray equipment.
  • Performs other related work as required.
