POSITION SUMMARY:

This is independent advanced level work requiring a logical or scientific understanding of business practices and procedures to analyze and resolve problems of a specialized or professional nature in a particular field, or in a wide range of applications. This position serves as a subject matter expert for E-Verify and conduct audits of qualifying businesses as outlined in 448.095 F.S.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Requesting, receiving, logging, and tracking automated randomly generated list of Florida businesses provided by the Florida Department of Commerce which have been selected for E-Verify employment authorization audit;
  • Receiving, logging, and tracking complaints from FL Commerce and the Florida Office of the Attorney General regarding violations of Florida Statute 448.095(3)(e), Unauthorized aliens;
    Employment prohibited;
    Employment eligibility;
  • Writing initial E-Verify audit letter to selected E-Verify audited businesses, including confirming the business is active and meets the standard as a qualified business to receive an audit;
  • Logging and tracking the certified mail-out(s) of the audit letter, and any correspondence via email/phone/fax between the E-Verify unit and the selected business. Initiate follow-up second letter;
  • Maintaining current status of the business which is under E-Verify audit, as well as overall updated statistics regarding the number of audits processed, and their status;
  • Maintaining all information in the E-Verify database and updates information as required;
  • Reviewing and conducting audit of employment verification E-Verify documents submitted to the unit by businesses operating in Florida, as part of the enforcement of Florida Statute 448.095(3)(e), Unauthorized aliens;
    Employment prohibited;
    Employment eligibility;
  • Notifying businesses under E-Verify audit if additional documents are required in order to complete the audit or notify businesses of the successful conclusion of the audit;
  • Using the E-Verify audit process:
    Identify violations of Florida Statute 448.95(3)(e), or potential deficiencies, and notify the supervisor for next steps in the process; and
  • Coordinating and conduct independent research.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory provisions relating to the analysis of specific documents and records;
  • Knowledge of operating microcomputers and the different available software programs;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow, and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices;
  • Ability to conduct fact finding research;
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information; and
  • Ability to meet and maintain NCIC/FCIC certification.

Note:

Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the state application and any omission, falsification, or misrepresentation in the answering of the qualifying questions will be cause for immediate elimination from the selection process.

BASE SALARY:

  • $ 52,530.14

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
