The Criminal Investigations Division encompasses all law enforcement and forensic components residing within the Department of Financial Services. This advertisement is for a Crime Intelligence Analyst I position which is a NON‑SWORN position within the Bureau of Fire, Arson & Explosives Investigations.

THIS IS NOT A TELEWORK POSITION. CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK IN THE OFFICE.

Requirements:
  • Two (2) years of professional work experience in one or more of the following areas: criminal justice, military intelligence, law enforcement, conducting research/interviews, data analysis, investigations, administrative assistant/executive assistant.A post‑secondary degree from an accredited university/college may be used as an alternative for the years of professional work experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Professional work experience generally includes roles with
    administrative, supervisory, analytical, or operational responsibilities
    in structured or corporate settings. Entry‑level roles in the service or retail industry (e.g., McDonald’s, Publix) typically do not qualify.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • VALID Driver’s License from the Florida Department of Safety and Motor Vehicles by time of employment.
Preferences:
  • Special consideration may be given to eligible candidates who have bilingual verbal and written skills that meet a critical need of the agency’s mission.
  • An active Florida Crime Information Center or National Crime Center certificate.
  • Experience working in law enforcement agency, law firm, fire service industry, or government investigative agency.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of record writing techniques
  • Knowledge of research and intelligence analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of the procedures and techniques for effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to use personal computer
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize criminal intelligence data
  • Ability to review large amounts of criminal intelligence data and to determine the significance, completeness, and usefulness of the data
  • Ability to write reports, investigative summaries and memoranda resulting from information analysis
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to report information clearly, concisely, and accurately, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
OTHER KSAs (Incumbent may learn on job):
  • Ability to coordinate the dissemination of information
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to communicate effectively by radio and telephone
  • Ability to use personal computer and computer software (Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, and other software)
  • Knowledge of the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal procedures
  • Ability to obtain and maintain FCIC/NCIC certification
  • Ability to travel and work outside assigned areas
  • Knowledge of criminal intelligence or military intelligence procedures
  • Ability to testify in court
