Position Summary
One of the region’s largest orthopedic and sports medicine providers, Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute’s world-class team of orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians specialize in conditions and injuries of the spine, hand, upper extremities, foot, ankle and lower extremities, as well as joint replacement, concussions, interventional pain management, bone health and orthopedic trauma. Position Overview'Clinical Assist (Medical Scribe)' is trained in structured clinical assessments, professional documentation, population health workflows and team-based care in an ambulatory office or inpatient hospital setting to facilitate efficient and effective medical care between patients and clinical team members.
Status: POOL (Per Diem)
Responsibilities- Gathers data through patient or caregiver interviews and direct or indirect observation of clinical team member.
- Documents clinical data, assessments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific policies.
- Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician or APP.
- Assists the physician, APP, or clerical team members by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule, provide patient with scheduling information to obtain specialty testing, and/or specialty physician consultation.
- Effectively chart prep for upcoming appointments, ensuring complete charts before patient arrival.
- Processes incoming and outgoing calls in an independent and professional manner using sound clinical judgment.
- Able to help lead and participate in departmental committees and special projects as assigned.
- Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.
- Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
- Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family members.
- Adheres and assures compliance with Orlando Health and department specific policy, procedures, value statements and Commitment to Excellent standards.
- Consistently demonstrates personal and patient safety practices and adherence to infection control standards outlined in Orlando Health policies.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Education/Training:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Hold completion certification of an Orlando Health verified clinical documentation training program or complete a verified training program within 2 months of hire
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a health care related position or health related education
