Director of Infection Prevention
Job SummaryThe Director of Infection Prevention is responsible for the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the infection prevention and control programs for healthcare system/facility. Implementation is accomplished through performing surveillance, consultation and education regarding prevention and control activities under the direction of the infection prevention director or manager and the physician epidemiologist. The Infection Prevention coordinator serves as an internal consultant in regards to data collection, analysis, reporting and team facilitation in relation to improving patient outcomes related to health care associated infections and infectious diseases.
The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for coordination, facilitation and leadership of infection prevention and control activities related to patient and health care worker safety and quality/performance improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, Public Health, Microbiology, or Epidemiology - required
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Master's Degree in in Public Health (MPH) - preferred
- Certification in Infection prevention & Control (CIC) - required
- Knowledge of epidemiology, infectious disease management, microbiology, public health principles, and statistical analysis of clinical data - required
- 3 years Infection Control & Prevention experience in acute care - required
- 1 year of leadership experience - required
- Experience in critical care and/or OR is helpful
