Position:
Senior Public Health Nutritionist – responsible for advanced professional public health nutrition and dietetic work in the Florida Department of Health Nassau County, focusing on the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program.
• Assist in planning, conducting, and administering a generalized nutrition program in a designated health clinic/site.
• Perform nutrition risk assessments, provide counseling and education to clients (infants, children up to 5 years, pregnant and postpartum women, breastfeeding women) and assist with goal setting.
• Document assessments, education, and referrals in FL‑WISE; maintain proper documentation as required by policy and quality improvement audits.
• Coordinate reassessment and education for high‑risk clients, assign tailored food packages, and review medical and WIC referral documentation.
• Obtain and manage anthropometric and hematological data for WIC certifications, recertifications, and rechecks as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Program Director.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Excellent time‑management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a health‑care team.
- Proficiency in writing policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of clinical practices, policies, and procedures.
- Computer proficiency, including patient electronic records.
- Ability to record a clear, defensible account of care or services provided.
- Ability to teach clients specific health issues and promote wellness.
- Knowledge in nutrition and breastfeeding.
- Ability to provide group education.
- Physical ability to bend, squat, or stand for prolonged time and lift up to 35 pounds.
Minimum
:
- Current license in the State of Florida as a Dietitian/Nutritionist.
- Willingness to provide coverage at all Nassau/Baker WIC sites.
- Physical ability to bend, squat, or stand for prolonged time and lift up to 35 pounds.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred
:
- Previous or current employment with WIC.
- Proficient in the use of FL‑WISE.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Yulee and various locations in Nassau County; occasionally Baker County.
