Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Radiologist and the Department Director and/or Manager, the technologist delivers nuclear medicine testing to patients of all age groups. The technologist utilizes equipment and technique to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs diagnostic nuclear imaging and other related imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner.
Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. The Nuclear Medicine technologist will maintain all necessary documentation and records as required by the State of Florida Department of Health as it relates to the Radioactive Materials license of this facility.
This individual is also responsible for appropriate radiation safety practices.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Diploma from certified school of Radiology required.
- Bachelor’s of Science or Master’s of Science in healthcare related field from an accredited educational institution preferred.
- Two years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Tech and acute care experience preferred.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and American College of Radiology.
- Demonstrates strong, organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as ability to interact well with the public.
- Must have computer proficiency and knowledge of various software applications.
- Active State of Florida Nuclear Medicine Technologist license.
- Active American Registry of Radiology Technologists (NM) license required or CNMT.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association required.
