• Oversight of laboratory research activities in Dr. Linda Rinaman’s lab.
• Removing fixed brains from experimental animals, sectioning brains on a freezing microtome, performing basic immunocytochemical staining, mounting tissue sections onto glass slides, and cover slipping slides.
• Keeping track of laboratory reagents, alerting the PI when supplies are running low, preparing buffer stock solutions, ensuring adequacy of supplies, receiving and storing purchased reagents according to manufacturer instructions, and ensuring that purchase orders are active and up to date.
• Assisting with undergraduate researcher training, maintaining animal colony records including weanings and genotyping, performing tissue histology, microscope imaging, and maintaining detailed experimental records.
• Maintaining the animal colony, weaning pups, collecting ear punch samples to send out for genotyping.
• Maintaining a clean and well-organized environment in the Rinaman histology lab and vivarium space, and ensuring compliance with ACUC and EHS policies.

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience (post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate).
• Completed ACUC‑mandated training for approved research using rodents as experimental subjects.
• At least two years’ experience handling and working with rodents in laboratory research.

The minimum salary for the position is in the mid-$30,000s. Anticipated starting salary will be offered commensurate with experience and qualifications.
