Your Specific ResponsibilitiesThis position provides clerical support which includes a variety of complex and technical secretarial skills and support. Reports directly to the Operations & MGMT Consultant II - SES. Duties involve a diversity of programs requiring a wide latitude of technical and legal knowledge and the ability to exercise independent judgement and the capability and initiative to accomplish results in program area.
This position is identified as a sensitive position and will be performing tasks involving sensitive information, high levels of trust and requires background screening including fingerprinting. Adhere to Department of Health Information Security policies and procedures. Key custodian for designated areas.
Chief Deputy Registrar for the Vital Statistics Program:
Service the public needs involving Vital Statistics requests. Issue birth and death certificates as requested. Maintain vital records files and appropriate audit trails. Monitor Vital Statistics at Tax Collector branches for compliance with official documents and certificates. Complete onsite assessment monthly. Work with state office, funeral homes, birthing centers, hospitals to assure timely filing of vital records and assist with problem solving of issues as they arise.
Adhere to F.S. 382 and F.A.C. 64-V1 relating to the Vital Statistics program. Maintain inventory of DOH Vital Statistics forms. Provide training to funeral homes, birthing centers for Vital Statistics processes and policies. Work with Vital Statistics team to assure coverage of office at all times.
Assist with Medicaid, Medicare and third party insurance billing and organizational billing for Walton County Health Department. Responsible for timely submittal and follow-up of billings. Maintain compliance rates set by Accounts Receivable Policy. Work with Business office tracking Billing Waivers, and refunds. Process the Bill File Completion Summary after the upload. Run and approve, after working the Billing Review and Approval Report.
Prepare reports and inform supervisor of status of accounts receivables for Walton County Health Department. Track and report denial rate to supervisor to identify coding errors and billing problems to reduce rate and facilitate timely Medicaid, Medicare and Third Party payments. Monitor past due client accounts and contact clients via phone for collection. Work with Business Office regarding write offs. Perform other related duties as required.
May be required to travel in personal vehicle. Will be available to work irregular and indeterminate periods of time in the event of an emergency or disaster.
Preferred:
Previous Vital Statistics experience, prior medical billing and coding experience.
