Hendry Regional Convenient Care Center, LaBelle, FL, US

POSITION PURPOSE

To assist in day to day management of the patient care area. Obtain necessary patient information and to assist the providers in medical procedures. Assist the RN, LPN, and the clinical staff in performing their duties and carrying on the necessary functions required in accordance with established policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent from a department of education accredited program required.
  • Medical Assistant certificate/license.
  • One (1) year of outpatient experience preferred.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • Phlebotomy drawing certificate preferred.
  • Must have thorough education or training in the basics of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and proficiency in the use of an electronic health record system required, E Clinical Works preferred. Knowledge of web based programs and Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to multi-task while working in a high volume work environment required.

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to speak a relevant second language preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, medical staff, and hospital staff.
  • Ability to identify and implement appropriate patient communication strategies and overcome accessibility barriers, as required.
  • Ability to use Language Line or find Certified Interpreter for Interpretation as needed.
  • POSITION

    ACCOUNTABILITIES
    • a.Set-up, clean and turn-over room between patients, following established sanitary protocols.
    • b.The CMA/RMA provides direct care based on the policy and procedures of the clinic.
    • c.Demonstrates knowledge and skill in performing ordered treatments.
    • d.Prepares patient for procedure or examination.
    • e.Take and record height, weight, and blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration, temperature, Sp02, and patient pain perception.
    • f.Performs basic lab procedures appropriately and demonstrates ability to perform venipuncture. Obtain laboratory samples and complete paper work as ordered by the provider.
    • g.Perform CLIA Waived Testing.
    • h.Obtain laboratory samples and complete paper work as ordered by the provider.
    • i.Maintains and utilizes equipment appropriately and ensures equipment is in good working order.
    • j.Inventories and stocks supplies as needed.
    • k.Accuracy of calling in prescriptions upon approval of provider.
    • l.Transcribes, receives and interprets provider orders for assigned patient. Carefully documents all patient related information in EMR.
    • m.Demonstrates an ability to respond and provide direction in changing workload and during crisis and emergent situations.
    • n.Consistently demonstrates an awareness of patient rights and functions as the patient’s advocate.
    • o.Prepares and administers medications with knowledge of action, mode, side effects, and contraindications under the direction of medical provider.
    • p.Demonstrates adequate knowledge and skill in regards to administration of medications under the direction of a provider.
    • q.Calls in prescriptions upon approval of provider.
    • r.Screens and follows up on patient test results. Notifies providers of critical test results.
    • s.Performs patient care and communications within the guidelines of the Relationship and Results Oriented Healthcare Model utilizing the recommended bundles of best practice.
    • t.Communicates and completes handoff documentation for effective handoff of patients care for direct admission.
    • u.Required to have knowledge related to The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, ACHA, and any other Health care agency related to the outpatient setting.
    • v.Provides and explains education material to patients, families, and caregivers.
    • w.Assesses patient teaching needs and participates in teaching opportunities with patients and other significant individuals as indicated.
    • x.Performs clerical tasks such as scheduling of surgical cases, scheduling follow-up appointments, obtaining insurance authorizations and coordinating patient referrals.
    • y. Communicate to individual’s ability to understand.
    • z.Handle calls efficiently and direct special problem calls to appropriate person.
