The office of samh is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.

specificduties and responsibilities
this is a professional position having supervisory and administrative responsibility for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating a detailed clinical records service at a psychiatric hospital. Supervises the function and staff of the health information services department, which includes active residents’ medical records, discharged records, release of information, master resident index, form management, record management/retention, medical record forms maintenance and supply.
- directly supervises two health information specialist supervisors, who provides direct supervision to the health information staff and monitor all activities related to the maintenance of all residents medical records, ensuring compliance with appropriate policies and guidelines, the master resident index and hospital numbering system, the release of medical record information function, discharge medical records retention, the maintenance of the hospital cemetery records and preparation of death reports, provision of all medical record supplies hospital-wide;
hospital-wide record management and retention process; and auditing medical records. - daily supervision of word processing systems operators, who are responsible for typing all court reports, medical consults, and psychiatric reports for the hospital.
- maintains daily comprehensive tracking system of all court reports in order to track compliance with number of days to restoration of competency.
