Position

Summary

The Registered Dietitian (RD) consults in collaboration with the Director of Dietary Services and the treatment team to ensure the best standard of nutrition and dietary services. The RD completes a Dietary Assessment when indicated, conducts weekly nutrition education groups and dietary experiences, and oversees the responsibilities of the Diet Technician.

Essential Job Functions
  • Conduct Dietary Intake within one business day of admit; collect weight and height of the client and calculate BMI/IBW for the client chart.
  • Meet with the client at admit to establish a therapeutic relationship.
  • Hold initial, weekly, and discharge sessions with clients; provide daily written documentation of each session within an appropriate timeframe.
  • Chart each client’s progress throughout the treatment experience; ensure daily progress notes reflect the goals within the treatment plan.
  • Meet with each program client weekly and implement and manage individualized dietary meal plans that meet each client’s specific needs.
  • Identify weekly treatment goals and communicate to the treatment team relative to individual client needs; the RD is an integral part of the treatment team process.
  • Co-facilitate therapeutic family meals appropriate to the Outpatient level of care.
  • Facilitate nutrition groups weekly that are appropriate for adult and adolescent age groups.
  • Implement one dietary treatment plan for each client within a week of admission.
  • Make appropriate changes to individualized meal plans as needed based on weekly weights.
  • Communicate with referring and/or outpatient dietitian upon admit to Outpatient Program, during treatment, and upon discharge from Outpatient Program.
  • Communicate with the Medical Doctor as needed regarding any medical problems that may require dietary intervention; communicate with the Psychiatrist where applicable.
  • Oversee the Facility Coordinator and Diet Tech regarding kitchen management and monitoring emergency food.
  • Remain accessible to family members, including weekly communication (phone, email, or in person) with parents of adolescents.
  • Represent Center for Discovery in the community through a positive public presence during educational events, marketing events, conferences, and talks.
  • Apply Motivational Interviewing principles and supervise Diet Techs where applicable.
Knowledge, Education, & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate emphasis and completion of an accredited dietetic internship.
  • Preferred one year of experience in dietary counseling.
  • The Registered Dietitian must be fully registered/certified in the appropriate state; candidates who have completed their dietetic internship and are eligible to take the registration exam may be considered.

11:00 am – 7:00 pm, Monday–Friday

Work Location:

Hybrid remote/on-site with a minimum of 3 days on-site at Maitland, FL

RD Exam-Eligible Dietetic Intern: $60,000.00–$70,000.00 annually

Standard Compensation: $70,000.00–$80,000.00 annually

Senior-Level Compensation: $75,000.00–$89,000.00 annually

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, credentials, and alignment with the role.
