Position: HUMAN SERVICES WORKER II - 60009935

Position Overview

The Human Services Worker II provides residential care, enrichment activities, and supports treatment, psychiatric rehabilitation, stabilization and recovery of people with mental illness in a child and family services facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate, respectful care while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Observe and assess residents’ safety, comfort and health status during ward coverage, transport, meals, special observation, and restrictive interventions.
  • Communicate with residents to build trust, identify signs of distress or health concerns, and provide emotional support.
  • Intervene to remove residents from distressing stimuli, resolve conflicts, report abuse, and ensure safety during emergencies.
  • Assist with daily living skills, oral hygiene, bathing, showering, and transportation to appointments.
  • Plan and facilitate group and leisure activities.
  • Document all care activities accurately and objectively.
  • Participate in service‑planning and advocacy activities for residents’ recovery.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Six months of experience in a medical, psychiatric, nursing, childcare, correctional facility, or college/technical training (15 semester hours, 22 quarter hours, or 360 classroom hours) or a Florida Certified Nursing Assistant license.
  • Ability to attend a 1–2 week mandatory training course including CPR certification; schedule may be during day, weekend, or evening.
Physical & Safety Requirements
  • Ambulate, climb, and descend stairwells; assist in evacuation during emergency.
  • Maintain normal vision and hearing; use corrective devices if needed.
  • Perform repetitive movements of arms, hands, neck, and head; lift up to 20 pounds; bend, twist, kneel, stoop, squat, push, and pull; walk extended distances.
  • Be able to sit, stand, or walk for an hour without a break and work up to 16‑hour shifts on occasion.
  • Operate all required equipment and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Remain alert while on duty and be able to drive an EZ Go or vehicle if job essential.
  • Complete CPR and mandatory training on safety, restraints, and emergency response.
Work Schedule

Night, weekend, and holiday shifts, including scheduled off‑duty days. Essential position that may be required during emergencies or natural disasters.

Pay & Benefits

Annual salary $35,578.92 ($1,368.42 bi‑weekly). Evening and night shift differential $3.00 per hour.
