AMI Expeditionary Healthcare (AMI) is seeking dedicated and compassionate Clinical Dietetic Technicians (CDT) to support the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System in Bay Pines, Florida. In this role, you will work alongside Registered Dietitians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure Veterans receive safe, accurate, and patient-centered nutritional care. Key Responsibilities
  • Review and process physician-prescribed diet orders in accordance with facility policies.
  • Assist Registered Dietitians with nutrition care activities and patient support services.
  • Identify and communicate food allergies, intolerances, dietary restrictions, and nutrition-related concerns.
  • Monitor therapeutic diet compliance and support implementation of prescribed nutrition plans.
  • Assist with nutrition screening and assessment activities.
  • Manage patient meal ordering using systems such as Room Service Connect (RMS) and Computrition.
  • Ensure meal selections comply with prescribed diets and nutritional requirements.
  • Verify tray accuracy and completeness prior to meal distribution.
  • Coordinate meal service activities with nursing units and food service staff.
  • Assist patients with menu selection and approved dietary options.
  • Conduct patient interviews regarding meal preferences and dietary needs.
  • Answer patient questions regarding menus, diets, and meal services.
  • Participate in patient satisfaction rounds and service recovery efforts.
  • Promote a positive dining experience through compassionate customer service.
  • Accurately document nutrition and meal service activities in electronic systems.
  • Maintain records related to meal orders, food allergies, and therapeutic diets.
  • Conduct tray audits and quality reviews to ensure dietary compliance.
  • Monitor adherence to food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards.
  • Report discrepancies, safety concerns, or service issues to leadership.
  • Work closely with Registered Dietitians, physicians, nurses, and food service personnel.
  • Communicate diet changes and patient concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Candidates must possess one of the following:
    Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) Certification; or a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition or related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to successfully complete the AMI credentialing process.
