This OPS Environmental Specialist I position with the Florida Department of Health in Citrus County supports environmental health programs including onsite sewage systems, storage tanks, biomedical waste, food hygiene, and swimming pools. The incumbent works under supervision to inspect facilities, review applications, investigate complaints, and ensure compliance with state rules and regulations. The role involves site evaluations, inspections, report preparation, and public education on environmental health matters.
Keyqualifications
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Bachelor's degree from accredited college/university with major coursework in environmental health, environmental science, or physical/biological science (minimum 30 semester hours or 40 quarter hours
- Knowledge of environmental public health programs, Florida Administrative Code, and Florida Statutes
- Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and work independently
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds
