DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist (RT) to provide hands‑on respiratory care for medically complex patients residing in two medical group home settings in the Ruskin area. Patients may include individuals with tracheostomies, ventilator dependence, and chronic respiratory conditions requiring continuous monitoring and intervention.
This role requires a highly dependable clinician who is comfortable working independently, responding to emergencies, and collaborating closely with nursing staff and caregivers to ensure high‑quality patient care.
Minimum Qualifications- Active Florida Respiratory Therapist license
- Minimum of 1 year hospital respiratory therapy experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS preferred
- Experience with ventilators, tracheostomy care, and suctioning required
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Reliable transportation between assigned locations
- Perform routine and emergency tracheostomy care
- Change tracheostomy ties and tracheostomy tubes as ordered
- Provide airway suctioning and secretion management
- Monitor and manage ventilator equipment and settings
- Complete daily respiratory equipment checks and troubleshooting
- Identify and respond to respiratory emergencies promptly
- Document patient care accurately and timely
- Collaborate with nurses, CNAs, and caregivers regarding patient status and care plans
- Ensure infection control and patient safety standards are maintained
- Assist with respiratory treatments and oxygen therapy management as needed
- Alert and attentive throughout the entire shift
- Sleeping during shifts is strictly prohibited
- Must maintain professionalism and readiness for emergency response at all times
- Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
- Experience working with medically fragile or long‑term care patients
- Ability to work independently in a residential healthcare setting
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Consistent 12‑hour shifts
