Smoking Monitor Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Smoking Monitor to join our team at Washington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chipley, Florida. As a Smoking Monitor, you will be responsible for supervising residents during designated smoking times, ensuring their safety and well-being, and adhering to facility policies and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Supervise residents during scheduled smoking breaks in designated smoking areas only
- Verify residents' smoking privileges and any care plan restrictions before allowing them to smoke
- Distribute and collect smoking materials according to facility protocol
- Maintain visual supervision of all residents in the smoking areas at all times during designated periods
- Ensure proper extinguishing and disposal of smoking areas at all times
- Monitor for safety hazards and report any incidents or concerns to nursing staff
- Assist residents with mobility to and from the smoking area as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the smoking area
- Enforce facility smoking policy and ensure that residents do not have smoking materials prior to leaving the designated smoking area
- Basic understanding of fire safety and smoking-related hazards
- Ability to remain vigilant and attentive for the duration of supervised smoking periods
- Strong observational skills and sound judgement in emergency situations
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with elderly and cognitively impaired residents
- Ability to follow facility policies, infection control protocols, and safety regulations
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist residents
- Ability to work outdoors or in designated smoking areas in varying weather conditions
- Ability to respond quickly in an emergency
- Exposure to secondhand smoke
- Work may occur outdoors
- Schedule based on facility-designated smoking times
- Starting pay $15.00/hour
