Position: Student Intern, Healthy Outreach and Prevention Services (HOPS)
Location: Sarasota

Health & Wellness Interns will work directly with the Health Promotion and Outreach Coordinator to support campus wellness initiatives. Interns will play an active role in developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs while gaining hands‑on experience in public health, student affairs, wellness education, outreach, and event planning.

The HOPS Intern will assist with the following:

  • Support the planning, promotion, implementation, and assessment of health and wellness programs and events
  • Assist with outreach initiatives that promote the HOPS Wellness Wheel
  • Develop educational materials, presentations, marketing content, and social media campaigns related to health promotion topics
  • Help increase awareness of campus and community resources that support student wellness
  • Participate in tabling events, workshops, awareness campaigns, and campus-wide wellness initiatives
  • Collect and organize program data, attendance records, and participant feedback to assist with program evaluation
  • Conduct research on best practices and emerging trends in college health promotion and prevention
  • Collaborate with student organizations, campus departments, faculty, and staff to support wellness-related initiatives
  • Serve as a positive representative of Health & Wellness Services and promote a culture of health and prevention throughout the campus community
  • Maintain student privacy and confidentiality in accordance with institutional policies and applicable regulations, while understanding and fulfilling responsibilities as a mandated reporter when required by college policy and law

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging educational programs
  • Ability to interact professionally with different populations
  • Comfort level working with sensitive topics including but not limited to sexual health, alcohol and other drugs, mental health, nutrition, and more
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to a supportive campus environment
  • Adaptability and willingness to change and grow
