Salary: $42,000.00 - $43,000.00 Annually

• According to DHM 150-24, Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), agency policies and supervisor’s instructions provides nutrition services to WIC clients.
• Certifies/recertifies women, infants and children to participate in the WIC program.
• Provides nutrition assessment and counseling for WIC clients, and documents counseling in client record same day of the service using the SOAP format. Develops and implements a nutrition care plan appropriate for each client.
• Selects, develops and evaluates client education materials, including preparing bulletin boards and conducting group instruction.
• Serves a minimum average of 12 clients per day.
• Spends a minimum of 20% of WIC time in nutrition education activities.
• Spends at least 6% of WIC time in breastfeeding education activities.
• Uses FL-WiSE electronic system to facilitate services to WIC clients.
• Issues WIC benefits and directly distributed formula according to DHM 150-24, Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and local procedures. Maintains necessary inventories and follows security procedures.
• Performs hemoglobin testing and height/length/weight measurements for WIC clients as needed: trains staff on anthropometrics.
• Conducts inventory of formula, breast pumps and EBT cards.
• Provides Nutrition Services for non-WIC clients.
• Provides nutrition in service to support staff as assigned.
• Follows Personnel Rules and regulations and supervisor’s instructions relating to attendance on the job, observation of lunch and break times, usage of sick leave, annual leave or personal holiday, and all other applicable tasks and behaviors. Completes required documents that show the expenditure of work time and the tasks performed. Submits to supervisor as requested.
• Attends professional meetings, conferences and workshops, follows DOH rules and regulations, and performs other related duties as required according to agency policy and supervisor’s instructions.

• Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
• Ability to use a computer, printer and calculator.
• Ability to use program related computer software.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform anthropometric and hemoglobin tests for WIC clients using appropriate biohazard, safety and WIC procedures.

• Access to transportation
• Valid driver's license
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in dietetics, clinical nutrition, nutritional science, community nutrition, food and nutrition, or public health nutrition (Florida Statute 468)

• Experience as an employee of a WIC program
• Experience providing nutrition education to individuals
• Experience providing breastfeeding education and support to individuals
