An opening role as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is available for a direct hire opportunity with an option for contract-to-hire in Lake Butler, FL. This position offers a structured Monday to Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM and involves working onsite alongside a dedicated team including two full-time technicians, two full-time pharmacists, and one weekend pharmacist. The pharmacy manages a low volume of about 100 prescriptions daily, with chemotherapy preparations accounting for 15-20 doses each day.
Qualifications / Desired
Experience:
- 3-5 years experience in hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding following USP , USP , DEA, OSHA, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Recent (within 3-5 years) experience in home infusion, hospital, or oncology infusion pharmacy preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to perform and oversee sterile compounding in a regulated environment
Responsibilities / Duties:
- Interpret, verify, and process physician medication orders with a focus on infusion therapy
- Perform final verification of compounded sterile preparations
- Review medication profiles including safety checks for allergies, interactions, dosing, and compatibility
- Maintain compliance with USP standards and oversee aseptic techniques and environmental monitoring
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy staff including pharmacists and technicians
- Manage quality assurance, medication safety, audits, and regulatory documentation
- Oversee inventory, controlled substances, and overall pharmacy operations
- Develop and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and staff training programs
- Lead staff meetings and ensure adherence to all regulatory and safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to optimize patient care
