The Sanibel Harbor Marriott Resort & Spa is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as our Banquet Captain. The Banquet Captain is responsible for leading the Banquet Department daily operations, which includes the front of the house associates and back of the house associates to ensure all events run seamlessly and exceed client’s expectations. As the Banquet Captain, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests, leading a large team, and achieving financial goals for this department.
The ideal candidates will have proven experience of at least 3 years leading a Banquet department, and have excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Responsibilities- Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to ensure proper setup of tables, chairs, decorations, and equipment. Inspect linens, china, glass, and silver for cleanliness.
- Assign tasks to servers and bartenders. Conduct pre-shift meetings to review event details, special requests, and dietary needs.
- Collaborate with the Director of Banquets, and other resort departments to develop and implement strategic plans for the banquets department.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of banquets, ensuring seamless execution of events and functions.
- Lead, inspire, train, and manage a high-performing team to consistently deliver exceptional service.
- Conduct regular training sessions to enhance staff skills in banquet service, customer service, and teamwork.
- Act as the main contact person for event organizers, responding promptly to guest requests and complaints to ensure satisfaction.
- Finalize checks and obtain signatures from clients. Enforce company, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, presentation, and service.
- Implement and uphold health and safety protocols in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Foster open and effective communication channels with team members, other departments, and clients.
- Other responsibilities as required.
