Position: Director of Sales | Jacksonville Holiday Inn
Location: Stockade

Shaner has an immediate opportunity at our Holiday Inn (98 rooms) located in Jacksonville, Florida. The hotel is on the East Loop of I-295 and Bay meadows Road, Southeast of downtown Jacksonville. Conveniently located close to shops and eateries at the St. Johns Town Center and The Avenues shopping mall, the University of North Florida, Mayo Clinic, and Florida State Community College South Campus are nearby.

The hotel is only 15 minutes to the Beaches and 14 miles from Jacksonville's Timucuan Ecological and Historical Preserve. With approximately 4000 sq/ft, the hotel's conference and banquet space are the largest in the area, great for meetings and social functions.

Responsibilities
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts to meet the company's business operations.
  • Achieve hotel financial goals and budget targets.
  • Ensure compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures by the Sales department.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all Shaner Hotels, franchise, and hotel/departmental policies and procedures, informing the Sales team.
  • Be knowledgeable and understand current customers and accounts, particularly corporations, agencies, associations, tour operations, sports teams, and other groups or organizations who purchase hotel services.
  • Determine and implement additional business or market segments the hotel should pursue.
  • Establish special packages or programs to boost occupancy during slow periods, and create advertising through newspapers, direct mail, billboards, etc. to support these programs.
  • Attend trade shows, chamber of commerce or civic events, and other local organizations to support hotel sales.
  • Ensure communication with General Manager, all other Department Managers, and staff.
  • Manage all aspects of employee performance to ensure productivity and a quality work environment.
  • Maintain Sales Department's annual budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in sales, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers.
  • High school graduate or equivalent; college degree in hospitality management or business preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Familiarity with the local economy and market conditions.
  • Working knowledge of hotel operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or members of the organization.
  • Ability to prepare budgets and ensure cost controls.
  • Familiarity with sales and marketing tools.
  • Knowledge of organizing set up requirements from information on B.E.O.’s.
  • Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele.
