Human Resources Department – Indian River Educational Complex
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule to meet HR & Benefits deadlines, as needed.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED; advanced college degree preferred.
- Three years of secretarial or administrative support experience, preferably in HR/Benefits.
- Experience with HR & Benefits functions such as benefits enrollment, employee record management, employee leaves and compliance with federal/state laws.
- Effective time management skills to coordinate workload to meet changing priorities, schedules and deadlines.
- Ability to handle a variety of benefit and insurance issues with tact and diplomacy in a confidential manner.
- Experience with Human Resource duties, Delaware Paid Family Medical Leave, short-term disability, worker's compensation, and personnel onboarding using state approved systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills to deal amicably and effectively with people in and outside of the district.
- Proficient computer skills including experience with Frontline, FSF, PHRST, Data Service Center or other district/state approved programs.
- Clean Criminal Background Check, TB test and Child Protection Registry clearance must be completed prior to start of employment.
- Completion of approved PHRST/FSF training within 90 days of employment.
- Cross‑train in all aspects of the HR/Benefits office to provide support when needed.
- Prepare benefit forms and assist new hires or existing staff with benefits enrollments.
- Update and maintain employee records for HR and Benefits.
- Answer a large volume of employee calls and emails regarding benefits questions in a timely and professional manner.
- Work closely with Payroll and HR staff to ensure a successful transition of new district employees and provide consistent support to existing staff.
- Support district employees from new hire onboarding through retirement.
- Serve as liaison between the District and other state agencies on benefits or employee leave.
- Maintain monthly life insurance report for full‑time staff.
- Manage the employee leave process:
- Distribute leave packets for FMLA, PFML, parental leave and short‑term/long‑term leave.
- Explain leave policy and requirements to staff.
- Track required forms and calculate available time for each request.
- Complete Hartford reports as needed.
- Compile return‑to‑work documents and communicate return dates to administration.
- Manage the Donated Leave process:
- Verify employee eligibility.
- Coordinate with building and district administration.
- Complete the transfer of time for the impacted employees.
- Worker's Compensation:
- Collaborate with building admin and nursing staff once a claim has been submitted.
- File all claims in a timely fashion.
- Provide claim information to employees.
- Coordinate communication between the district, the employee and the district’s worker's compensation representative.
- Other duties as assigned.
