SPECIAL NOTES:
Four (4) years of experience in computer science, information technology, engineering or related field is required. A post-secondary degree in those fields may be used as an alternative for the years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
Additional requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Microsoft Windows System Administrator.
- Proficiency in English language.

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $ annually.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Windows Server administration.
- Knowledge of Security-related software and hardware including McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator, Splunk, and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Knowledge of Dell Server hardware and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of best practices related to IT security.
- Knowledge of industry-accepted role-based access control principles
- Ability to write procedures, guidelines and user guides.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to determine work priorities and ensure the proper and timely completion of work assignments.
- Ability to compile and analyze data.
- Ability to distill information and translate it into training materials.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply statutes, rules, guidelines, policies, procedures and standards.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
The Windows Server Administrator is responsible for the full lifecycle management of Windows Server environments. This includes installing and configuring server operating systems and key roles such as Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP. The administrator ensures system security and stability by applying regular updates, service packs, and patches, and manages user access through Active Directory and Group Policy.
They monitor logs, conduct security audits, and configure storage solutions including disk partitions, RAID, and Storage Spaces. Backup and recovery procedures are implemented and regularly tested using built-in tools or third-party solutions. The role also includes managing network services such as DNS, DHCP, shared folders, file permissions, and network printers.
Secure remote access is maintained through VPN and Remote Desktop Protocol, and the administrator is responsible for deploying and managing virtual machines. In hybrid environments, they handle synchronization between on-premises Active Directory and Azure AD. The administrator troubleshoots and resolves server, hardware, and software issues, provides user support, and maintains thorough documentation of system configurations and procedures.
