POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the CJIS Manager I, this position is responsible for conducting research of criminal justice information to ensure all information received or disseminated is compliant with state and federal requirements. The role also monitors the Computerized Criminal History (CCH) workflow, processes tasks within defined time frames, and provides quality service to local, state, and federal agencies and the general public.
This position must maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) certification as required and maintain the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.
- Conduct research for accurate and complete criminal justice information by utilizing internal and external databases or by contacting other criminal justice and non‑criminal justice agencies to ensure all information received or disseminated is compliant with state and federal requirements.
- Analyze, evaluate, and interpret legal documents in reference to the expunction or sealing of criminal history records to process applications for Certification of Eligibility.
- Maintain regular contact with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies and other out‑of‑state agencies to gather required documentation for decisions and record modifications.
- Conduct research for relevant information from multiple databases and resources.
- Analyze multiple source documents to form a recommendation and decision regarding eligibility for expunction or sealing of criminal history records.
- Provide documentation to external criminal justice partners to support updates to criminal justice systems.
- Ensure internal documentation for criminal justice information updates includes extensive notation and markup to justify recommended updates to criminal history records.
- Process requests for dissemination of records in compliance with state statutes.
- Maintain security and integrity of data housed within the department databases and perform additions, deletions, and modifications of criminal history as required or in compliance with court orders.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
