position summary

under the direct supervision of the cjis manager i, this position is responsible for assisting with the administration and resolution of operational and management problems as they relate to criminal justice information. Additionally, this position provides research and analysis relative to state and national laws, rules and regulations that directly and indirectly impact the maintenance or dissemination of criminal justice information.

This position must meet and maintain a national crime information center (ncic)/florida crime information center (fcic) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

duties & responsibilities
  • conducting thorough research and analysis of information from multiple resources to formulate a recommendation on administrative, operational and systematic issues or enhancements;
  • conducting research for relevant information from multiple databases and resources;
  • assisting management in the creation and maintenance of operational procedures to ensure section materials are up to date and available to section members;
  • assisting management in the quality assurance of criminal history records;
  • conducting analysis of documentation gathered for specialized requests and assisting in the determination of impact of proposed law or rules changes;
  • serving as liaison with office of general counsel (ogc) to receive direction and clarification on interpretation and department position for legal decisions;
  • assisting management in the tracking of section standards and workload statistics to produce departmental, divisional and section level performance reports; and
  • assisting in the training of section members as assigned.

  • ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;

  • ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments; and
  • ability to communicate effectively.
