Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Security
Double Zero is looking for a highly skilled Network Operations Manager to join our team as we support the launch and scaling of the Double Zero protocol. You'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our network infrastructure as we build a new global base layer network for distributed systems.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITYBe the network's guardian. Serve as the primary steward of Double Zero's network operations, monitoring performance across our WAN and associated data centers. You'll be responsible for ensuring optimal network health, identifying potential issues before they impact operations, and coordinating rapid response when incidents occur.
Master complex systems. Develop deep expertise in Double Zero's unique network architecture. Our protocol combines high-performance filtering with dedicated fiber infrastructure to increase bandwidth and reduce latency for blockchain networks. You'll need to understand both the technical intricacies and operational requirements of this cutting-edge infrastructure.
Coordinate across teams. Act as the central point of coordination during incidents, bringing together multiple stakeholders, including validator operators, bare metal infrastructure providers, and our engineering teams. Your ability to communicate clearly under pressure and manage complex multi-party responses will be essential.
Build for scale. As we move toward mainnet launch and beyond, help design and implement automated monitoring and response systems. You'll work closely with our engineering teams to reduce manual intervention and build operational excellence into our infrastructure from the ground up.
Leverage cutting-edge tools. Use AI-powered tools and modern operational technologies to enhance your effectiveness. We believe in empowering our team with the best available tools to solve complex problems efficiently.
Network operations expertise. You have substantial experience in network operations or support roles, with a strong understanding of wide area networks, data center operations, and distributed systems.
Technical depth. Experience with multi-vendor carrier class networks, bare metal infrastructure management, or similar high-performance computing environments. Knowledge of FPGAs is a plus.
Outage management skills. Proven ability to remain calm under pressure, coordinate multi-team incident responses, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders during outages or performance issues.
Global flexibility. Willingness to work across time zones as needed, with preference for candidates in European time zones to provide optimal coverage for our global network.
AI-forward approach. Experience using AI tools to enhance operational efficiency and problem-solving capabilities is preferred.
Blockchain enthusiasm. Understanding of blockchain technology, validation, and the challenges facing distributed systems. You appreciate the potential of decentralized networks to solve fundamental internet infrastructure problems.
Systems thinking - ability to understand complex interconnected systems and identify optimization opportunities across the full stack.
A crypto or decentralized system enthusiast - you understand the potential of the technology for solving some of the world's most vexing problems.
You are a great communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
An independent problem-solver - you can understand what’s most important quickly and proactively build solutions.
A scrappy team player with a high degree of ownership – you thrive in early-stage environments with lots of moving parts, priorities, roles, and responsibilities.
Double Zero is a decentralized, permissionless protocol that revolutionizes network performance for distributed systems like blockchain. The mission is simple:
increase bandwidth and reduce latency.
Double Zero increases bandwidth by filtering junk data that currently plagues validators and other network operators. Double Zero reduces latency by connecting these filters with underutilized private fiber links in the form of a mesh network. By combining these improvements and routing the right data through optimized, low‑latency paths, the Double Zero protocol empowers blockchains and other systems to reach performance levels that are currently impossible.
In short, Double Zero is a new Internet for distributed systems. It is supported by two organizations:
Double Zero Foundation
, which drives the adoption, decentralization, security, and advancement of the protocol; and Malbec Labs
, which develops the technical components of the protocol itself. We look forward to hearing from you.
