Location: Sarasota

The New College of Florida is seeking a Data Scientist to support campus-wide data insights through analysis, modeling, visualization, and data engineering. This onsite role in Sarasota, FL focuses on turning institutional data into clear reporting, reliable dashboards, and predictive or classification capabilities that inform internal decisions.

In this position, you will work across data sources to extract and analyze information, build machine learning and artificial intelligence-driven models where appropriate, and deliver dashboards and reports using approved tools. You will also help strengthen data assets and ensure reporting remains accurate, consistent, and well-governed.

What you’ll do
  • Extract and analyze data from the Banner ERP system and related data sources to fulfill internal data requests
  • Develop modeling frameworks for prediction
    , classification
    , and similar objectives using machine learning models and artificial intelligence tools when appropriate
  • Design and develop dashboards
    , reports
    , and visualizations using Power BI or other approved visualization tools
  • Identify opportunities to enhance data assets and propose innovative solutions
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions and provide data-driven recommendations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and understand business challenges
  • Develop and maintain data models, data definitions, and documentation
  • Ensure data accuracy
    , integrity
    , and consistency across reports and systems
  • Automate and optimize recurring reports and analytical processes
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular updates to stakeholders
  • Support data governance and compliance initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proficiency and experience with statistics and predictive analytics
  • Proficiency and experience with machine learning and deep learning models
  • Proficiency and experience with Python
    , R, and SQL
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly and concisely
